Welcome to semester 2. This term, we turn to geometry, which is really very different from algebra. This might sound good, it might not -- the truth is the truth regardless of how it makes us feel.
Statistics will spend the term considering inference and the limitations of statistics as compared to parameters. It's a good time, as learning about our own limits is responsible and eye-opening.

January Exam Week
Monday, January 21, 2008
Congratulations. We've made it. Obviously, no lectures this week, but if you need to see me to discuss or study, please make use of the support blocks scheduled after the second exam each day.
If you plan to come in during one of those times, please email me in advance. I may or may not be available otherwise.

The snow day really hits our midterm review pretty hard -- days in January are worth more than days in October, after all -- which means you may need to review on your own.
All of the lessons I have planned for review are below. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are familiar with everything in all of them. Between now and finals, I am in on wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30, as usual.

Welcome back! There are just 12 class days between the beginning of 2008 and midterm exams, so we'll be finishing up a few loose ends, and then turning to review of the semester.
Algebra will tackle 6 topics of varying degrees of importance. Statistics will be looking at discrete probability distributions, and how and why to use each one.
