Hi, and welcome to Mr. Quinn's Class dot com. That's me in the picture. The bald one.

I am a teacher at Noble High School in North Berwick, Maine. I'm teaching sophomore algebra and geometry as well as a section of statistics this year.

This page is intended to be a central place for access to information that might be useful to students and parents, with news, assignments, and other class-related content. Links are to the right, news is below. Enjoy!

10 - 14 December

Monday, December 10, 2007

With just two weeks remaining until the holiday break, the question is, "What's a nice, self-contained unit of study that'll be a good way to end the year?"

In algebra, the answer to this question is going to involve the study of radicals and exponents. This seems a little dry and mechanical -- and it is -- but it's enjoyable for that. Statistics, once we complete our probability exam on monday, will turn to simulations. This is one of the coolest things in a year full of cool things, so I'm looking forward to a strong finish to 2007

Algebra Statistics
10 dec: Simplifying Radicals
11 dec: Adding and Subtracting Radicals
12 dec: Solving with Radicals
13 dec: The Pythagorean Thm
Week 13 Homework
10 dec: probability exam
12 dec: intro to simulations
14 dec: simulation kickoff

4 - 7 December

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

So, snow day! The missed day, along with the half day this friday, makes this a fairly awkward week. We're going to get on with our lives as though not too much has happened, however -- statistics will review probability on Wednesday, and Algebra will be looking at some data analysis.

Please keep in mind that progress reports will be closing this friday, which is also my birthday. Rather coincidental, don't you think?

Algebra Statistics
4 dec: Histograms
4 dec: Practice Data
5 dec: Measures of Center and Spread
Exam 2 Practice: Probability
