There are 16 days of class remaining. Calculus is playing Chess and MULE and working on my bulletin board, mostly because i think it's funny. Math B continues to ramp up to the B exam which continues not to be that important compared to the calculus exam.

Week 14 Notes

Sunday, May 14, 2006

We've only got about 4 weeks until the Math B exam, so we really need to buckle down. I was a bit disappointed with the restults of last week's quiz, so I'm going to be devoting a good amount of my energy toward motivation this week. We're doing great work -- it would be a shame to get tired and give up now.

Week 13

Saturday, May 06, 2006

I am very proud of my Calc students -- your performance on the day of the test was everything I could possibly have hoped for in terms of your timing, focus, and stamina. However things work out, it's important that you understand that you performed on test day admirably, and you should feel good.

Calc this week is going to start by looking at a game that I played as a student and which is where I learned everything I know about supply and demand: M.U.L.E. The graphics, as I'm sure you will inform me repeatedly, are quite corny, but the premise and gameplay are incredibly deep and compelling, and we're going to give it a shot for a couple of days this week.

Math B is going to begin reviewing for the exam, which is in about 6 weeks. This week, we'll be looking at the laws of sine and cosine, as well as all those chords and tangents we looked at at the beginning of the year.

Week 12

Well, here we are: the last week of new content in Math B and the AP Calculus AB exam. As in prior weeks, there are no Calculus notes, and there won't be until next week when we start on some new activities that are only vaguely math-related in that class.

Math B will look at regression, and because this is a task that requires the TI84, there won't be any homework. I recognize that many of you will be out for various and sundry field trips and protests. This is fine; however you are of course responsible for going over these notes to remain on pace with the rest of the class.

Lesson 23: Exponential Regression
No HW this week
It's the big week! Stay focused, and stay strong!

No more homework - Work those practice exams!
