Week 8

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Calculus has completed the material for the exam, and all that's left is review and prepping for the exam. We'll be working a ton of practice exams, and talking a lot about how the pieces we've studied fit together.

And in math B, we're taking a break from algebra (phew!) to talk about summation. It's not the toughest topic in the world, so consider it a bit of a break after the tough work we've been doing.

I'm optimistic and exhausted, so it must be almost April break.

Online Help

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Parent-Teacher conferences were last week, and several people asked me for websites that might provide some support with the rational expressions we've been studying.

I found this, this, and this. The first is part of a great, great site called purplemath that's a good place to start any online inquiry into high school math.

Also, please feel free to contact me (link in the upper right of the page!) any time you have a question with anything school-related.

Week 7

Wednesday, March 22, 2006

This is the last week of new material for AP Calculus. The exam is just about 5 school weeks away, so we'll turn to review and test prep next week. In Math B, this will be our final week on our big algebra push, and we'll spend the entire end of the week doing recap and prep for the Regents exam.

Parent-Teacher conferences are this week -- thursday night and friday afternoon -- and report cards will be distributed then. I'm pleased to report that pass rates and means are higher than ever for all of my classes -- congratulations on a very good first third of the term.

Week 6 Notes

Tuesday, March 14, 2006

Volumes of rotation and more and more algebra. Hooray!

It's also the last week of the marking period, so if you feel that your grade is inaccurate, this would be the time to let me know.

Week 5

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

New week, new topics. Math B went very well last week in our discussions of variation, and we're holding it down as we move to more algebra. Calculus is looking at the area between curves -- the calculus isn't very difficult, figuring out how to use it is. And investing is working on a company research project using the good old internet.
