 | Hi, and welcome to Mr. Quinn's Class dot com. That's me in the picture. The bald one.I am a teacher at Noble High School in North Berwick,
Maine. I'm teaching sophomore algebra and geometry as well as a section of statistics this year. This page is intended to be a central place for access to information that might
be useful to students and parents, with news, assignments, and other class-related content. Links are to the right, news is below. Enjoy! |
Week 8 Notes
Sunday, October 30, 2005
Parent-teacher conferences have come and gone, which means that we're over a third of the way through the term. Time's really flying, isn't it?
Calculus is going really well, and we're going to finish with our initial study of methods of differentiation this week. We'll look at the chain rule and trig functions. B is continuing with triangle proofs, and stats will be talking about the comparison of two numerical variables.

Week 7 Notes
Sunday, October 23, 2005
Week 7 is underway. All classes are running at full speed, following my absence last thursday and friday -- I heard that everyone worked well while I was ill, and I appreciate this.
Calculus will be learning methods of differentiation, Geometry turns to triangle congruence, and statistics starts talking about describing data numerically. All in all, it's going to be a rigorous week, so please stay on top of things.
Grades will be finalized by monday evening, and parent-teacher conferences will take place on thursday and friday.

Week 6 Notes
Tuesday, October 18, 2005
In statistics this week, we're doing our second project, which will address the value of histograms in representing quantitative data. The assignment, rubric, and survey form are below.
This is possibly the biggest week of the year so far in calculus -- we look at the limit definition of the derivative, and do lots of algebra.
And in geometry, we're going to be doing more thinking and writing. I've also posted Mr. Smith's review. Yeah.

Weeks 4 & 5
Wednesday, October 05, 2005
Due to the fact that we get some religious holidays off -- but not others, i would point out on this, the second day of Ramadan -- this week and next week are three days long, which means only two lessons during that time. Throw in the PSATs next wednesday, and we're going to have to work extra hard to stay focused for the next couple of weeks.
In calculus, we'll look at continuity and limits, in B we'll finish looking at circles and start thinking about how we reason, and in stats we'll learn the horrible truth about numbers. Hold on tight!
